For example do you know exactly where you want your electrical panel located even before you put your project out for bid?
Make all your decisions on fixtures and materials ahead of time.
What you need is a good checklist to make sure you don’t forget
something.
3. Do I have the time to spend over-seeing my project?
Don’t get drawn into believing that running a construction
project is easy. Just making sure everything is coordinated
and getting all the subcontractors there to get the work done
is a full time job. Can you afford to take the time away from your family?
4. Am I a natural leader that knows how to get the most out

deal with people is from a position of respect.

Biomimicry sparks innovation
0 Comments | New Straits Times, Sep 3, 2010 | by Lim Lay Ying
FOR hundreds, if not thousands, of years, inventors, scientists, artists and designers have been looking to nature for ideas. Some of us may remember Leonardo da Vinci’s attempt to design the airplane based on the way birds fly.
The most famous example of copying nature, however, was in 1941 when Swiss engineer George de Mestral invented the Velcro fastener after being inspired by the prickly burrs of the burdock tree that had got tenaciously stuck to his dog’s fur.
Based on his observation that tiny hooks on the end of the burr spines catches anything with a loop, this two-part fastener system requires placing a strip or patch of hooked material opposite the strip or patch of a loose-looped weave of nylon.
Revolutionary trends
When petroleum sources started dwindling and energy costs began rising in the late 1990s, companies and research institutions intensified efforts to find ways to be less dependent on energy.
With advances in technology – in particular materials science and nanotechnology – to spur them on, engineers, scientists and designers turned to the natural world for inspiration. Their common goal was to rethink ways to build that would be more efficient, cost less and be friendlier to the environment. The revolutionary approach, referred to as biomimicry or sometimes biomimetics or bionics, quickly led to numerous product innovations.
Among the many products on the market today is a kind of plywood that doesn’t rely on formaldehyde-based adhesive for bonding – instead, it was inspired by the ability of blue mussels to maintain their grip on rock. Other innovations are self-cleaning windows as well as exterior paints inspired by the leaves of a lotus plant which stay clean even in its natural habitat of muddy river deltas.
Innovative design approach
In recent years, bioinspired ideas have also surfaced in the field of architecture and urban planning.
Probably the first project in the world to be inspired by termite mounds for their natural ventilation is the Eastgate Centre in central Harare, Zimbabwe.
Designed by architect Mick Pearce in collaboration with engineers at Arup Associates, this architectural marvel comprising a midrise 60,000sq ft shopping centre and 280,000sq ft office block has a “passive cooling” ventilation system that mimics the cooling and heating vents made by Zimbabwe’s termites to regulate the internal temperature of their gigantic mounds. Outside air drawn is either cooled or warmed by the building’s mass depending on prevailing temperatures and then vented into the building’s floors and offices before exiting via chimneys at the top.
Cost savings passed to tenants
The complex also consists of two buildings separated by an open space that is sheltered by glass but allows breeze to filter in. Air is continuously drawn from this open space by fans on the first floor, then pushed up through vertical sections of ducts located in the central spine of each building. The fresh air replaces stale air which is ultimately expelled from the building via chimneys.
As a consequence of not employing the conventional method to cooling and heating, the Eastgate Centre, which opened in 1996, uses less than 10 per cent the energy consumed by a standard building of the same size

So the color needs to be
So the color needs to be added back
in a process called “filling” before using the final color formula. Whatever you do, don’t simply buy a box of your original color and
try to cover over a bad dye job… it won’t work. Fixing hair color
gone wrong is a multi-stage process so a trip to the salon may be
in order. 6. I already have permed hair. Can I color it without damaging it?
If your hair has been permed or relaxed, color has to be applied
carefully or it can weaken the structure of your hair. Salons have
colors specially formulated for treated hair. But if you insist on
home hair coloring, choose a shade darker than you want since
processed hair may come out lighter than expected. Then do a strand
test to make sure your hair can handle the chemical stress.
7. I love my new color… now how do I keep it looking good?
You’ll probably want to recolor every four to six weeks. Make a
record of the hair color product and shade you used, and how long
you left it on the ends and the regrowth.

There comes the concept of an International
There comes the concept of an International Drug i.e. getting the drug from the international market and not from the home market. This has been done in the North America by importing Mexican and Canadian drugs on a large scale. The accessibility to the internet makes it all the simpler for the people to get it at lower prices from any other country nearby them.
It has become a great matter of concern and study as the hazards attached to the drug import are immense and there are high chances that the people may be getting sub standard and untested drugs. There is no regulation to confirm the authenticity of the International drugs. The lower prices come as easy bait. By the beginning of the 21st century almost a third of the American patients were importing drugs online. The lower price being the most important factor.
The drugs are properly scrutinized before giving the production license by the FDA but in case of the imported medicines there is no surety regarding the quality of the drugs.

One of the
One of the easiest shower remodeling projects is to upgrade existing shower curtain or doors. Installing a new shower curtain is a quite simple and can be accomplished by anybody. To further enhance the look of your bathroom you may also want to consider adding (or upgrading) shower doors.
Shower Curtains
- Installing a shower rod and curtain is another simple DIY home repair project. If you do not currently have a shower curtain installed or if you are replacing the existing shower curtain rod measure the distance between the walls at the height where the rod will be placed. Home repair centers as well as a large number of departments stores will usually have quite a selection to choose from. Select a rod of the correct length along with your preferred style of shower curtain and curtain hangers (make sure they are the right size for your curtain rod!).
Typically the shower curtain rod will either provide brackets for you to install (if you have a laser level it will come in handy here), be spring loaded, or will telescope and tighten to the correct length.
